I had such a great time today with Vanessa, Kristin Julie and Katie! We took the shoot at Layman's Farm off of 460 in Blue Ridge VA. It was a gorgeous day and we had so much fun. Here's one favorite from the shoot. More coming soon!

Girls in white (or blue) dresses...and a pink chair.

I found this chair at Wisteria Lane and had been eying it for months. When it went on sale I could no longer resist and bought it. It is the perfect prop for use with little girls and what better little girls than my two adorable nieces, GiGi and Bell.

GiGi has her own little style and loves her flowered rain boots. The backwards hat was also her doing.

Belle!

Doesn't it look like she's saying "peek-a-boo"?

Both of the dresses that Belle wore in these pictures used to be my sister Krysta's dresses when she was a little older than Belle.

Danielle and Bobby- More pictures!

Well I promised a story so here it is :) This is Danielle and her fiance Bobby. Danielle and I have known each other since we were 5. Her parents bought a mattress from my parents...and so it began. We both lived in South FL at the time and we did everything together! Countless sleepovers, meals at each others houses, vacations together, camping, 4-H etc. When I was almost 9 my family moved 1000 miles away to a small town in Central VA called Lynchburg. We visited a few times during the years and wrote letters consistently. About four years ago Danielle and her family moved only about 3 hours away from me to Catlett VA. Her house is on the way to my sister's house in NoVa so we get to see each other from time to time. Prior to this shoot however I had met Bobby only once and had not seen Danielle in about a year and a half. This past Saturday (my last before school started) I drove up to Danielle's house with my sister (who was visiting my family and was therefore down in Lynchburg) and we went from there. We shot first at Crockett Park then drove to the creek/bridge location and lastly finished with a change of clothes at the house where we did some shots around their property. It was fairly late when we started but the weather was so nice! Especially considering it is August! We had a great time and I got to catch up with my dear friend and hear the entire engagement story over ice cream. Danielle and Bobby are so great together! I love seeing how they interact and how their gifts touch those around them in their everyday life. They both love the Lord and I anticipate seeing the different ways they serve him as they join efforts next April as a married couple. They will be getting married on the beautiful island of Sanibel so watch for pictures next year!

A fun one that shows very vividly Danielle's crazy fun personality!

I love this one!

Danielle and Bobby Engaged

I only have time for a couple quick pictures. If nothing else you will notice that this couple is all smiles. They were so much fun to work with and the day was beautiful. More about our shoot later. Enjoy the preview and be sure to check back soon for more pictures and stories from this shoot.

100 years

My cousin and I had some fun this afternoon. This sort of fun involved a chair, some antique books, 3 dresses spanning about 100 years of woman's fashions and a camera. Despite the heat the shade kept things feeling nice and we had a fun time with some great shots to prove it. Its hard as a photographer to explain why, when you can only show one pic (for now of course) you pick "that one". Other people can't necessarily see it-but you like it for whatever reason. So, since I only have time to put up one picture from each outfit I had to choose. I could try to say why I like each picture and picked it however I could say something about a number of pictures and I got so many I like its hard to say why I picked these three. Suffice it to say, this photographer has chosen three pictures for now and I hope you enjoy them! I will be uploading more soon (as well as some from a fantastic shoot I had with some delectable cupcakes) and you will be able to see perhaps why these three made the fist showing list.

This Victorian style gown used to be mine. I picked it up at Goodwill to wear to a birthday party and its been hanging in a closet ever since. It was put to some good use today as my lovely cousin donned it for these picture-perfect shots.

This plaid dress also used to be mine. I made it from a vintage 50's pattern out of $1 rack fabric from Wal-Mart.
And lastly, this dress belongs to the young lady herself. Purchased from Francesca's at The Falls in Miami.

The chair has been in my mom's room since we lived in West Palm Beach and it has always been promised to become mine when I get married and move out. So for now, its my prop :) The three books are Leonie, A Fair Barbarian and A Girl of the Limberlost. All are antique books from the 1800's and were purchased from Givens Books.
